Real live Pirates
…well kind of. A few weekends ago Quincy, Mahra, and myself went to see a children’s play at the Marriott Theater in Lincolnshire, IL. Thanks to Nanny and Papa for buying us the tickets!
The play was an adaptation of Treasure Island and it was awesome. Since it was part of the “Theatre For Young Audiences” season it was a lot more fun and a lot less disturbing than the original story. It was also presented as a musical which made it a lot more fun for the kids to sit through. And the other great thing about the show was that it was in the round, which is a stage that has audience seating on all four sides. That is the first time I have seen a play in the round and I really liked it. It makes for a totally different experience. Plus there was a live band and the cast ran through the audience a couple times.
But most importantly, Quincy LOVED IT! Being in the height of this pirate obsession made this one of the greatest things in the world to him. I’ve never seen him sit quietly for so long. He just sat there on Mahra’s lap all wide eye and smiley. It was a great thing to share with him and my wife. We plan on attending the fall showing of Pinnocchio.
