Last night, on the way home from Dr. Mac’s office, Quincy saw a cat walking through a yard we were driving past. We have talked to him before about how we can’t get a cat, because I have allergies and he seems to take it pretty well. But last night, after seeing that cat, he started talking about getting a cat. And his solution to my allergy problem was to get rid of Daddy and get a new guy. Then when we asked him what we’d do with Daddy he said that we’d give him to the other girl. After some questioning, we found out that what he was thinking was that we could trade me for another Daddy that was not allergic to cats and I’d go to another family. This was, of course, very funny and we continued talked and laughed about it for a long time.

Later in the evening Quincy said he was just joking and would not want to get rid of Daddy. If fact, when Mahra brought it up again during bedtime, he said that he wanted to keep Daddy because he loves him very very much.

Quincy is now able to have some really great conversations. It is a lot of fun to talk with him when he’s in the mood to talk. I love that kid so much.

My birthday has officially come and gone. Overall, it was a pretty good birthday. I got a few gifts from family and Mahra. The best was probably that we got to go to the movies while Quincy stayed at Auntie Maija’s house. We saw “The 40 Year Old Virgin” and it was awesome. I think it is the funniest move I’ve seen in a really long time. I didn’t want to leave the theater afterwards. I wanted to stay and watch it again. I highly recommend it!

So, here’s a list of what I got for my birthday this year.

  • Got a Bluetooth mouse in the mail, from my parents, on Friday.
  • Quincy got me a little wooden chest (very cool) and in it was a nice little drawing of me making a silly face.
  • Mahra got my season one of Buffy the Vampire Slayer on DVD. She also arranged for Maija to watch Quincy so that we could go to the movies.

I still have a birthday party this coming weekend, so it’s likely that I will get another gift or two. If I don’t, that is fine. I’m just happy to have such a great family and to not feel as old as I am.

So, happy birthday to all. And if you would like to send any gifts, feel free. We will welcome them all!

So I just got the news that my father was elected as Junior Grand Warden to the Masonic Grand Lodge of Illinois. That means that (if I remember correctly) in six years from now he will be the Grand Master. That’s right. My father will be the head honcho of the the Illinois Masons. I’m very happy for him, because he really loves being a Mason and all the things that come with it.

Congratulations Dad!!!

Last week we spent a few days in the cabin of some friends, just outside of Rhinelander, WI. This was Quincy’s first real vacation and he had a blast, because several of his friends were there with us. That’s right, we had 5 children, all age 4 and under, together in a cabin for most of week. The first night was really crazy and I was afraid of what I had gotten into. After several hours of being stuck in a car, the kids went wild that first night. But, after that night things got easier and we had a really good time.

A hike through the woods, a visit to the Eagle River children’s museum, campfires, and smores were some of the fun activities we did with the kids. And on the way back home Mahra, Quincy and I stopped off in the Wisconsin Dells to go on a Duck Boat ride. Quincy seemed to really enjoy that as well.

Overall, it was a really good time.
