After receiving 18 inches of snow last Friday, my parent’s carport could no longer take the pressure. My dad said that around 8:30 am he heard a crash sound and looked out the window to see the carport top where their new car was parked. The sad news of the story is that Mom and Dad just got that car a couple weeks ago. The good news is that it wasn’t damaged much and is still drivable until they take it in to get it fixed.

Carport brought down by snow

At least it didn’t happen while one of them were parking the car.

Last Wednesday we had another ultrasound done. The ultrasound tech did the first part of the exam, which took a good 20 minutes or so. She tried and tried, but was unable to see the gender of the baby. This was extra disappointing to us since it would be the second ultrasound where the baby was developed enough to tell the gender, but not seen due to the legs being crossed or closed up.

As the tech left the room, she told us that the doctor would be in to finish up the exam and go over the results from the ultrasounds. She also commented that it would be just her luck that the doctor would come in and have no trouble seeing the gender. Well, she was right. Within moments of putting the ultrasound wand on Mahra’s belly he was able to point out that it is a girl.

Now comes the task of picking out a girl name. I had already started a list of boy names, because I was for sure that it would be another boy. Not that I was wanting a boy over a girl. I just had that gut feeling it was a boy. Oh well, I guess I can’t always be right. But if I’m going to be wrong, this is a great thing to be wrong about!

Today I have a new favorite URL. PopURLs.com

The site’s tagline is “Popular urls to the latest web buzz.” and it is defiantly that. This is a site I will visit every day and get more then enough information. It even has some controls to tweak the page design. Very cool.

For years I have wondered why people say Gesundheit after someone sneezes. That and how it is spelled. Well today I came across a mention on the web that explained it. It seems that Gesundheit is the German word for health.

Well now I know. Huh.

This weekend, Mahra and Quincy were doing some Christmas list idea surfing. One of the things Quincy is interested in getting more of are the Lego superheros that he currently enjoys so much. While doing some Googling they came across Dave School - The Digital Animation & Visual Effects School out of Universal Studios Florida. There are some very cool projects listed on the site, but best of all are the short digital animations found in their online theater. My favorite two are the both done with Lego style characters. I have a feeling that Quincy will be asking to visit this site everyday for the next couple weeks. And I don’t blame him one bit.

Update: it looks like the Lego style guys are officially called "Minimates".
